Tom Waits Gives to David Lynch's Foundation

Tom Waits Teams Up with David Lynch. Wait What?!

This is in fact very true. The haunting masters of music and film are helping to make change in the world through The David Lynch Foundation’s (DLF) promotion of their Transcendental Meditation (TM) program for different groups of people. DLF’s TM program helps veterans with PTSD, homeless, prisoners, kids struggling in school, American Indians, and children growing up in violent environments. Tom Waits has contributed his song "Briar and the Rose" to The David Lynch Foundation Music (DLFM). DLFM acts as a record label, and has received new, unreleased, or remixed tracks from 34 star-studded artists (including Tom Waits) that want to “Download For Good”. Wait, so this is only available on iTunes? Wouldn’t it be better if this were released on vinyl? Yes, that is why The David Lynch Foundation Music has partnered with Altavoz Distribution to produce not just the album on vinyl, but an entire DELUXE BOX SET!

Inside this exclusive and VERY LIMITED EDITION box set (1,000 in the USA) will be:

* (4) 180 Gram Vinyl Discs with 33 tracks from different artists (including Tom Waits)
* Unique art by Romio Shrestha and the artists (Romio’s art is featured in prestigious museums)
* An AliveDrive with a bonus track (gives you premier content from the artists on your computer)
* David Lynch wooden sticker

Contact your local record store, and tell them you want the David Lynch: Download for Good, Music that Changes the World Box Set from Altavoz Distribution.

A large portion of the sales made from this box set benefit two different charities. The DLFM’s portion of the sales benefits the DLF. Altavoz Distribution gives a percentage of its revenue to their majority shareholder, the Help Earth Foundation.

About the David Lynch Foundation:

The David Lynch Foundation was launched six years ago to bring the stress-reducing, health-promoting benefits ofTranscendental Meditation® to underserved populations, including at-risk inner-city youth and U.S. veterans returning home from combat with post traumatic stress disorder, as well as Native Americans, the homeless and prisoners. To date, the David Lynch Foundation has provided scholarships for nearly 150,000 adults and youth to learn to meditate, eliminating the traumatic stress that undermines academic achievement and fuels substance abuse and violent behavior. Independent published scientific research shows that meditating individuals have better overall mental health and students have dramatically better test scores, grades and graduation rates, while dropout rates, suspensions, and expulsions greatly decrease. We're trying to give you a copy of the boxset

Since this is a limited edition Boxset ~ there are only 1000 of them to be released worldwide.

There is just not enough of them to go around; So we're trying to make sure that everyone gets a chance to get a hold of one of them.

So we've stated a PunchTab.com campaign that will allow fans and supporters of the David Lynch Foundation Music to win one of the boxsets

So the how~ is really simple.

Get registered with Punchtab.com and like the DavidLynchFoundationMusic page on FB.

We're working on this like crazy so stay tunned.

RollingStone asked a question today and it shows the importance of music

What was your first concert? Tell Rolling Stone and find out which artists, fans and editors shared your experience: http://bit.ly/ps0Fzt

We'll we asked everyone @altavozdistroco what there's was so here it goes.

Nelson's I got the lady staying with my sister and I to drop me off at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, the year was 1979 and the event was the Texas Music Festival or Jam as it was known. The line up was pretty amazing. 1979

  • TKO

  • Sammy Hagar

  • Nazareth

  • Van Halen

  • Heart

  • Boston

  • Blue Öyster Cult

  • My plan included me somehow hooking up with my sister who was already there and I would somehow get a ride back with her.    Let's just say that the plans of a 14 year old don't always make sense.  Needness to say I had a  blast.

Alex's is pretty sure it's Weird Al in 2000 which explains a whole bunch about him

James of course saw Judas Priest's & Queensryche in 2005.

We'll update this when we get the rest of the crew.
